Braised Beef with Radish

Ingredients

  • 450g white radish (daikon)

  • 100g beef

  • 15g green onion (scallion)

  • 3 slices of ginger

  • 10g cooking wine

  • Soy sauce (to taste)

  • 4g salt

  • 2g MSG (monosodium glutamate)

  • 3g star anise

  • 40g peanut oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the radish and beef thoroughly. Cut them into chunks and blanch them separately in boiling water.

  2. Heat the peanut oil in a wok or pot. Add the green onion, ginger, star anise, fresh stock*, and cooking wine, followed by the blanched beef chunks.

  3. Simmer until the beef is tender. Then, add the white radish and bring it to a boil. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface.

  4. Continue to cook until the radish is tender, then add the remaining seasonings (soy sauce, salt, MSG) to taste.

*Note: “鲜汤” (fresh stock) is mentioned in the instructions but not in the ingredients list. You can use water, beef broth, or chicken broth.
