Alternative Name: Tonify the Lungs Decoction

Drug Composition:

  • Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng (Ren Shen): 9g (Ginseng Root)

  • Radix Astragali (Huang Qi): 24g (Astragalus Root)

  • Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata (Shu Di): 24g (Prepared Rehmannia Root)

  • Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wu Wei Zi): 6g (Schisandra Fruit)

  • Radix et Rhizoma Asteris (Zi Wan): 9g (Aster Root)

  • Cortex Mori (Sang Bai Pi): 9g (Mulberry Root Bark)

Method of Administration:

Decoct the ingredients in water and take the resulting liquid orally.

Functions:

This formula is indicated for conditions of Lung deficiency. Its primary functions are to tonify the Lungs’ Qi and Yin. It is used to treat symptoms such as:

  • Cough and wheezing.

  • Shortness of breath and spontaneous sweating.

  • A low and weak voice.

  • A pale tongue.

Contraindications:

Use with caution in individuals with spleen deficiency and loose stools.
