Zhongwan Acupoint
Location Method
The Zhongwan acupoint is located on the upper abdomen, along the anterior midline of the body, 4 cun above the center of the navel.
How to Find It:
There are two simple ways to locate this point:
-
The Midpoint Method (Easiest): The Zhongwan point is found exactly halfway between the center of your navel (belly button) and the bottom tip of your breastbone (the xiphoid process).[1][2]
-
The Proportional “Cun” Method: In traditional Chinese medicine, the distance from the center of the navel to the bottom of the breastbone is defined as 8 cun. Therefore, 4 cun is precisely half of that distance.[3] You can also estimate this distance using your hand: the width of your four fingers (from index to pinky) held together is approximately 3 cun. Adding the width of your thumb would be roughly 4 cun.
