Method of Administration:
The traditional method involves grinding the herbs into a fine powder. The prepared rehmannia root is first steamed until soft and mashed into a paste. This paste is then combined with the other powdered herbs and honey to form pills the size of a cherry. It is typically recommended to take 2 to 3 pills at a time, swallowed with warm boiled water.[2] Modern preparations are also available in other forms such as smaller pills, capsules, and granules, with varying dosage instructions.[3][4][5]
Functions:
The primary function of You Gui Wan is to warm and tonify the Kidney Yang.[1][6][7] It is used to address a deficiency of Kidney Yang and the decline of the “fire of the gate of vitality” (Ming Men).
