Location Method
Located below the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra (L2), 3 cun lateral to the posterior midline.

Anatomical Notes
Underlying structures at this point include the latissimus dorsi and iliocostalis muscles. The area is supplied by the dorsal branches of the second and third lumbar arteries and veins, and is innervated by the lateral branches of the second and third lumbar nerves.
